Suggested use - This activity was designed to help students learn more about how pollutants move through the troposphere and their connection to asthma. Teachers should allow students (5th- 12th grade) to work through the activity and answer the accompanying questions. A student answer sheet is provided on the second to last page along with a scoring rubric for assessing student understanding. With the dynamic nature of web based materials this activity may be updated to include more current information. Applicable New Hampshire Science Standards for grades 6 and 12.

2e. Curriculum Standard: Students will demonstrate an increasing ability to understand that science and technology can affect individuals, and that individuals in turn can affect science and technology.

2f. Curriculum Standard: Students will demonstrate an increasing ability to understand that progress in science and technology is controlled by societal attitudes and beliefs.
